Solar Water Heater will be mandatory in India for all hospitals, guest houses, hotels and nursing homes.
Indian government will make using solar heating systems mandatory in all commercial buildings as part of the National Solar Mission.
The first phase, to be implemented between 2009 and 2012, will make it compulsory for all hospitals, guest houses, hotels and nursing homes to install solar water heaters.
Any residential complex with a minimum plot area of 5,381 square feet will have to install solar water heaters too.
This move is part of an effort to enhance expansion of the use of renewable energy sources.
Eventually, the National Solar Mission has plans to expand the amount of solar generated electricity used to supply lighting.
